Hi, I’m Ava Mitchell — and if there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that the best memories are almost always made in the kitchen.

I’m a self-taught home cook, a lifelong dessert enthusiast, and the person behind every recipe you’ll find here at DelishDiscover. I’m in my 40s, I’ve been cooking since I was tall enough to reach the stovetop, and I still get genuinely excited every time a cobbler comes out of the oven perfectly golden.

My Culinary Journey

I didn’t go to culinary school. I learned the way most home cooks do — standing next to my mother and grandmother, watching them move through the kitchen like it was the most natural thing in the world. My grandmother could make a peach cobbler with her eyes closed, and I spent years trying to match that. Eventually I found my own rhythm, my own flavor combinations, and my own way of doing things.

Over the years, cooking became more than a habit — it became how I show love. Sunday dinners, holiday baking marathons, late-night cookie experiments that either went wonderfully or into the trash (no shame). Every recipe on this site has been made in a real kitchen, with real ingredients, tasted by real people who gave honest opinions.
